Hello -- How long does it usually take to get access to the donor forum? I've signed up for recurring contributions to the effort via Paypal yesterday and wondering when i'll be able to get access. I am not sure if this is the right place to post this or not but just curious..

While eating dinner last night, I noticed a pitcher and glasses set in our china cabinet and decided to try a studio shot. I used one of my wife's black dresses, hung from the light fixture over our dining room table, as a backdrop. The glasses are sitting on a lens and various bowls and cups to raise them to the levels I wanted. I used white poster board on either side to reflect some light. Light source is a single flash unit bounced off of the ceiling. Thoughts on what I could do to make the shot better, aside from spending $2,000 to buy studio lighting equipment?

Hello,
I got my EAD through my primary Employer. I am currently working on EAD but with a different Employer (NY State Agency) who doesn�t encourage GC processing, so did not file my AC21 and been working for over a year now. I still have good rapport with my primary Employer. Now I am scheduled to go to INDIA for few weeks, my question is " whom should I say is my Employer " if the immigration officer asks me at the port of entry (JFK). Please advise as I will be carrying my current pay stubs.

While I do not have first hand experience. I do not believe the IO will care about your employment status or employer given that you have an AP don't recall anyone here saying that they were asked about the employer when using AP to enter.

Thanks NikNikon for the advice. I shoot everything from inside the arena so I can move between events to get the best position. Right know the strobes are out of my budget. Thanks MatsP also for your input. After your comments and talking with someone from Showcase here in Atlanta I feel much better :) about what I ended up with. This must be one of the toughest shooting environments you can come across. Do you think a bracket mounted flash would help any with the red eye? Also after 2200+ photos I am trying to learn to batch process pictures with photoshop. I am really please with how the unsharp mask helps the noise from the higher ISO. Any suggestions on batch processing tips to enhance sharpness, reduce noice and adjust levels & color are welcome. I have used photoshop for years in my printing trade but never learned it's full potential for use with photography. Also are any of you using Nikon's Picture Project? Particularly the D-lighting adjustment?

Your current employer experience has to be prior to your labor filing date (PD). You can not use the experience you got after the filing date.
You can use your experience with current employer if the future job is substantially different than your current job.

Immigration in United States is a soveriegn issue of this country and foriegn governments cannot do anything about it. In fact, it would be offensive for Indian Govt to advice US congress to do something regarding immigration.
Kamalnath, India's commerce minister tried to meddle in British Parliament when they changed visa rules for Indian Doctors. The British Parliament warned him and asked him to BACK OFF.
Immigration is not a trade issue. There is not deal between 2 nations on immigration. We are not talking about crude oil or soybeans trading.
Please end this discussion here. It looks really naive of us to even think like this.

If you have completed your 180 days with your 'parent' company.. then you are safe!
It's safer to get H1 transfer as mentioned by seltzer above
Your new company should be able to take care of AOS transfer for you which means change of representation - i.e. a new attorney representing your AOS case now AND change of job!
I'm going through that process right now!
Even though it cost you, I would prefer to keep one's own attorney.
If not, you are repeating the same old story. What if you plan to move from this second employer...
So, please find your own attorney. All that you need from new employer is offer letter and he is filing h1b with the same job title.

I have decided to go for the SB-600 rather than the 800 because I don't think I need the extra functions at this point. It will save on $$$ and weight too.

You also have faster recharge since the flash is slightly less powerful but perfectly adequate... I was going to get an SB-800 but ended up with two SB-600s for now for the same price.
I will likely get one SB-800 (and maybe another SB-600) when I get my D2x so that I have commander mode available.
the two SB-600s I have have been great for the month I've had them - if your only body is a D70 you're golden - you can use the sb-5B-600 on remote and use the built in D70 flash as commander.

Immigration Voice would like to request members of its community stuck in the green card process that are scientists, researchers, professors and working in the area of national importance. Basically anything that will benefit this country in any way (economically, health related, sciences etc)
We would like make a strong case via media through such interviews and if we are successful in getting such interviews published, these media interviews would be used when presentations are made to lawmakers.

Hello,
I am on L1 B visa here for last 2.5 years working for MNC (Fortune 200). The benefits folks recently contacted me and told me that I was not allowed to participate in US retirement plans (401K) due to L1 visa restrictions, and that they are returning all my previous contributions and earnings back to me as an income. They said that they allowed to participate me for past 2.5 years by mistake.
My question is if this is true ? Are there other folks on L1 who are participating in 401 K plans ? what are my options here ?

Here is my general suggestion. We have a lot of examples to learn from.
A desi consulting company will pay lesser, may not offer challenging work, and may have some weird restrictions in place. On the plus side, they are relatively more stable than American consulting companies when it comes to green card processing as the liklihood of layoffs are lesser.
People on H-1b should not be out to switch employers for a little extra money. Instead, they should look at the big picture and ask themselves what they want. If the GC is in mind, then plan for it now...not when your 6th year is just closing. If there is no interest in the GC, then you can chase money and join the one who pays more money. However, in many such cases, H-1s have eventually changed their minds and pursued GCs, but valuable time is lost as a consequence of not knowing what they really want.

US govt. must get all their money from HBSC and then strip them of their US citizenship and deport them. You can do everything in America except cheat more than allowed on taxes. Everyone enjoys a little wriggle space with taxes...the IRS knows that about each filer. Certain things however cannot and should not be done. These evaders are nothing but THEIVES stealing from us ALL. :mad:
