I dont mean to offend you but ability to file I-485 when the numbers have retrogressed is all it take to alleviate a majority of our problems, that is in the agenda and SKIL bill currently in house and approved by senate in CIR.
So if SKIL bill gets passed we should be fine, but when is a big question ???

Let me try to make a humble suggestion here - why don't you try writing a really short and direct letter, so that even the laziest guy cannot help but read it?

I would like to draw your attention to the bill <blah blah> which is very important from the point of view of people waiting in line to be legal immigrants
I wish that you lend your valuable support to this bill as it will help eliminate the backlogs and delays in issuing green cards to people from retrogressed countries like myself. This is essential to ensure that all people are treated equally irrespective of their country of birth

This is a very positive development. Chinese are suing based on EB3 China visas used in 2008 & 2009 which were 2058 and 1077 respectively. Which are far less than 2500 that the law actually allows without spillover. This is awesome. Go Chinese friends!

Merge all these threads into one - at least 3 or 4 people can take charge over the thread - the first few posts can be updates and tracking info and finalization of drafts and plans
Please encourage ONLY members who are committed, they can be ones who have posted real profile and who have joined state chapters - usually state chapter members are verified members.
It would be great if someone from IV core can also guide on such efforts

Last year in March end I had an opportunity to go for business trip to Frankfurt, it was technical conference of my company. Just 5 days before the due date, my H1 was to expire. Thanks to this moron in my HR, the whole H1 renenwal was delayed to just 2 weeks before expiry. We paid extra to expedite the H1 renewal, fixed Visa stamping/interview apointment at Ottawa, ON same week as we applied for visa renewal. In-fact I had apointments paid for two consecutive days(friday and monday), just in-case the documents do not arrive on time. And they didn't ( aka Murphy Law) till saturday. So headed out on Sunday to Ottawa from MI. arrived Monday morning, got the visa extended next day. Arrived back in office on Wednesday morning, sent all the documents to Chicago consulate office, with same day delivery. Anxiously awaited to hear-back till Tursday afternoon. Started frantically calling consulate office on Friday Morning. Believe it or not someone did returnback my repeated calls and complained about why I was calling everyone in office and in future try to send application atleast 1-2 weeks before travel. My flight was booked for Saturday 3:00 pm in afternoon and believe it or not I collected my passport with visa at noon!!!:rolleyes:
P.S: Trip was great and in-fact also got chance to visit Paris!!!:cool:

After receiving the flowers on July 10, Emilio Gonzales went to the library to study about Gandhi. He spent 2 whole nights reading the life history of the Mahatma. Finally the Mahatma appeared right before his eyes and made him realize the injustice inflicted by the July VB revision. The rest is history :D

I am in similar situation in regards to my wifes H1B and EAD situation. Following is my understanding but could be wrong. there are gurus in this forum who have been digging rules for years and would certainly point out any indiscrepancies in my reply. Make sure you keep reading the thread for a couple of days.
I am currently living in the US on H4. I will be getting my H1 approval in a couple of weeks.

Changed Employer after invoking AC21 (without sending any documentation to USCIS)
There is possibility that my new employer (where I am working on EAD) may get ready to file gc for me in EB2.
Now, here are my question:
1) Since my EB3 485 is pending, is it possible for another employer to file under EB2? Is this the process which is called Inter-filing? Has anyone done that?
2) At what stage previous EB3 PD can be used ? At the time of 140 filing, 140 approval or new 485 filing?
3) What if new EB2 I40 gets rejected? Does it have any impact on old EB3 approved 140 and pending 485?
4) Does the scenario look too risky?
5) Any one in the same boat?

My wife went for her biometrics today and what a surprise, her date of birth on the system was wrong.
She only had DL on her and no passport. So, the ASC staff took her biometrics but refused to correct her DOB, claiming that passport was needed.
So, we called up USCIS and upon description of the problem,were immediately transferred to level 2. Level 2 looked at the cases and confirmed that DOB was wrong on I-485. It was correct in I-765 and I-131. She said that the only way to correct it was to take infopass and present passport and DL.
It is now more or less clear that DOB mismatch has caused her EAD to be stalled for so long.I have already got my EAD.
Moral of the story : take passport for FP, infopass, etc. all the time.
Our EADs and APs were filed separately with I-485 courier receipt. What a mess !!
